Evening and Weekend Activities

After supper in the evenings, and on the weekends, you can do activities with the residence monitors.

Evening Activities in the Residence

The residence monitors will organize certain evening activities, such as game night, movie night, and conversation groups.

Going Out

The monitors will also have some special activities going out, like going bowling or to play laser tag at Laser Quest.

Festivals

In July, there are special festivals in Montreal such as the Just For Laughs comedy festival and the International Fireworks Festival, and the Sainte Catherine Street festival.

Ottawa Day Trip

Ottawa is the capital city of Canada, and you will go on a day trip one weekend.

You will take a bus to Ottawa early in the morning. You have leave early so you can see the Changing of the Guard ceremony on Parliament Hill starting at 10:00 AM.

 

Then you will have a tour of Canada’s Parliament Building Centre Block. Included in your materials is a book called “Our Country, Our Parliament. This book explains what you will see there.

IMPORTANT: When you go to the Parliament Buildings, you must pass through a security check. Don’t bring a large backpack with you. Make sure you are not carrying any knives or sharp objects.

After your tour, you will walk to the Byward Market for lunch with your monitors. After lunch, you will have some free time to shop in Byward Market.

In the afternoon, the bus will take you to Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor-General, for a tour and a chance to explore the beautiful grounds. See if you can find the tree planted by the leader of your country!

Chateau FrontenacQuebec City Day Trip

Quebec City is the capital city of the province of Quebec. It is a small but beautiful and charming city. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will see the world famous Château Frontenac hotel, the Dufferin Terrasse, the Petit-Champlain and more sites in the Old Town. You will also see beautiful Montmorency Falls near the city.

 

You will leave early in the morning and the bus ride is longer – about 3 hours from Montreal to Quebec. You will return to Montreal in the evening.
